I have a slight feeling there’s about to be some nudity… or just a heartfelt apology, or a comedic ending to a sex scene like I’ve already seen in the series, either way this the only manga I’m able to read and come back to WANTING a new chapter, thank fucking god it’s on here or I’d lose my fucking mind finding a way to pay for it. Much love
In my experience, “everything prim and proper” rarely comes from noble family members. Usually people from noble families are brought up with the idea that any goal can be achieved in many ways, and every rule makes sense only within the scope of the goal. In noble families, the rules are strict when and only when it is expedient, so it may look ugly or immoral, but the goal will be achieved. If goals can be achieved simply by upsetting someone, that might be the most expedient decision for a noble. But what did Sonya achieve? She brought Linda to tears and made no progress on the tail problem, but that was clearly not her goal.
On the other hand, in my experience, religious families, clan families, enforcer families, teacher families (especially language teachers) tend to follow strict rules regardless of the outcome, for example if their ultimate goal is to simply follow the rules and force others to follow them. Maybe it’s coming from here, but Sonya only mentions strict social etiquette, so that’s probably not the case either.
I think she is more likely from a family of politicians, or maybe the head of her family is a public person, so the social impression, the social image of the family is more important for him than healthy relationships within the family. But, again, this is implausible for a noble family, because noble children must love their noble parents, otherwise the parents will die sooner.
I am sure that Sonya is not from a noble family and if her family comes from a noble one it must be long in the past.
She could, but in this case, Sonya does not cope well with the role of representative of the family. If she is considered a representative of the royal family, then her family somehow missed the opportunity to give her proper training as a representative. How likely is this?
If you think about it, it is Linda who may come from a noble family. Although she shows no ambition to be either “the best” or “exceptional” or “extraordinary”, but she does seem to put in a lot of effort to be exemplary. If she comes from a noble family, she understands that her speech, her magic spells, her decisions, and even her appearance represent her family. This is a heavy burden. We don’t know about her family yet, but we do know that she’s tense inside all the time. So it may come not from lack of confidence, as Sonia suggested, but because it is not possible to check and control everything all the time.
Just imagine you try your best, but people would bring you in front of the fact, that you can not keep even your own tail in check! That must hurt.
I understand where you’re coming from and why she is being this way. But personally I would soon get agitated and fight back before I let someone walk all over me like that.
I would also! No doubt I would get agitated and fight back it someone tried to walk over me. But will you be worried if someone accidentally spills a few drops of ice-cold clear water on your head? What if it keeps happening like every day? Personaly, I would get agitated, despite it’s just an inconvenience and no harm is done. I would eventualy fight back and say something like “Hey! Can you not keep it a LITTLE under control?!”.
But how would I react if I was the one who spills cold water all around and got reprimanded for it? I would be very upset, that’s for sure, but I guess I would not fight back. Would you?
Even if I’m spilling cold water I would apologies for the inconvenience but for something like Linda’s tail I would also make a statement of “Is my tail hurting you? If not you shouldn’t be this mad about something this small.” and if it gets more heated I would argue that they are being petty or point out some of their flaws.
If I was already mad, somehow I would have become even madder when I heard that I “should not be this mad”. I would say something like: “Well, I should not, but I am! You are probably asking yourself why is he mad? Maybe because something small for me is not so small for him? Come on! Ask me IF it’s so LITTLE that I shouldn’t be MAD at all? Please.”
There are many things that won’t hurt, but will still bother some a little, some a lot. I would argue that doing something that really bothers someone without respecting their feelings is just what we call “to walk over someone”.
How when all you see is part of her tails and her ears sticking out of the pillow is she still so damn adorable?

Yep prim and proper. Like the noble family I thought she was from.

She could be from a royal family, where the children are the seen as representative of the family.

*Sonia
I misspelled her name. Again.

I wonder what Linda will answer to Sonia…
