Oh… Speculations ahead!
I guess Filinara is the most “analytical” type of these students. Her visualization is a product of her ideas, not her visual memory. She has firm understanding how a hammer works, which parts it consists of, but she has difficulties to assemble them into the whole. She certainly tried to connect them, like she tried to connect the hammerhead and the hammer held, but she is not sure what should it look like Just look, the plate is the part of her cast, the spoon is the part of her cast, the hammer is the part of her cast, but can you see the whole? As parts they are not connected.
It’s like… I don’t know, like Filinara is casting it wrong way. She appears to be working on her visualization through the cast, not the other way around. You see, it is way easier to disassemble a wristwatch, than to assemble one. I’d speculate that the proper way of casting is more like disassembling existing visualization, than assembling a new one through synthesis. And that is why her eyes are closed – while she is concentrating on building her visualization, she is practically blind anyway.
Does Philinara know that her performance is of the highest difficulty?
Is that a rock hammer? Maybe a panning plate? She’s got the concentration face going on for sure. Her lack of confidence leads me to believe someone has been trying to hold her back. Come on, Fili, you can do it!
Hammer/pick, Spoon, Plate. Relatively well defined outlines. With the visual language Feretta has established, this also looks like more efficient use of energy. Can’t wait for the next page, I’m anticipating Fili is far more proficient than she lets on.
I get the feeling this is going to be really interesting, whatever happens next.
Can’t wait for Fen to show them what a master can do…
by casting a Drakken
Or show them the cannon :p

Yea her confidence seems low that squirrelly gal. Though she is in the perfect place to get over that kind of setback.
Agreed! And what better teacher for them than Fen? You could say she’s quite… Fen-omenal at her job~ B3
