Depends on how hard you throw’em, the shells are nearly indestructible. In general, though, if any of them were to crack open, they would unleash all the energy crammed into them and blast Bowser to infinity with one massive ass hit, and then take three falcon punches like it isn’t even shit. .. What were we talking about again? Oh yeah, explosions. :p
…You know, I wanted to find some sort of special reason to finally make this account and express how much yet another random fan enjoys both the comment section and the comic itself, but when a quality Starbomb reference hits… argh.
Interesting idea to have black holes be how it enters local space-time. I’m curious to know if your intention is that black holes weaken space-time enough for it to poke its way through while in the vicinity of one, or if you intend to convey that it comes out of the black holes.
At any rate, there are a number of things they could try to kill it completely:
1. Probably the most difficult to do research for, but easiest for them to actually do if they can do enough research, is to create some form of equivalent to a prion that is composed of space-time much like the creature itself is, in such a way that it would slowly (but surely) spread throughout the creature until it stops functioning.
However, you’d need to have very thorough scans of every aspect of the creature, including every dimension it resides in, and possibly of the entire creature (potentially infinite in size), to do this successfully.
2. More feasible from the perspective of how much research needs to go into it, especially with technology as advanced as this civilization appears to have, would be to create a similar entity yourself, but one that works for you. Find a set of unused spatial dimensions and create a sort of ‘gray goo’ type of machine; that is, a system that converts space-time around it to be more and more of itself.
You must be careful to only use spatial dimensions that are otherwise unused, not even used by the creature you’re fighting. Early tests should use a time dimension so that you can stop things if they go wrong, rather than everything in the Universe being destroyed instantly. You might not want to use THE time axis though; so probably best to have your laboratory’s local time dimension be perpendicular to the rest of the Universe’s time.
Once your creation that you control is of sufficient size, reprogram it to additionally try to consume the creature’s dimensions. The creature might fight back more effectively than you predict, so make sure to have lots of safety protocols in place for switching to various random sets of dimensions for your ‘space-time goo’ to retreat to. This will hopefully reduce the chance of your system being overrun by the creature you’re fighting against.
It might be best to give your system the ability to find new (UNUSED) dimensions to ‘hide’ in on its own so that it doesn’t run out of them.. But this kinda depends on there being an infinite number of spatial dimensions (which is true for my own fictional multiverse, but there is real life scientific evidence to support there being a limited number of them (or perhaps only evidence of a certain number of them, and no evidence of there being more? I forget), so it’s more than valid to not go the same route I have).
3. Develop a method of ‘flattening’ or ‘smoothing out’ space-time. Depending on how the creature’s biology works, this might either be equivalent to hitting a more traditional matter-based creature with a bomb, or more like spraying compressed air at it. At the very least it’d be a way to keep the creature deterred from attacking the affected area, but unfortunately it also removes all matter and energy from the affected area.
Matter and energy can be converted bidirectionally from one form to the other, but the total sum of matter and energy cannot be raised or lowered. Thus, flattening out space-time like this will cause a literal explosion of sorts, where all matter and energy is pushed away from the area and into the area around there. However, with some care, you can make this ‘explosion’ so spread out that it effectively transfers directly into the ‘smoothness’ of space-time anyway. Like making a large dent or bell shape in space-time instead of having a trillion little tiny and complex eddies. Just.. Don’t fall into the trap of trying to do this by making a black hole. Yes, it smooths out space-time, at least in a way. But clearly, from what this page reveals, it won’t actually help at all.
Another note is that even if this is an effective way to ‘bomb’ the creature, the creature is potentially infinite in size. If it proves impossible to outright kill via this method, then at best it will decide not to invade/consume your section of the multiverse… But will still invade/consume other parts of the multiverse. You’ll be a hero for your local Universe only.
Forgot to add that, of course, there are more methods than just those three. However, those are the three I’m able to think of off the top of my head.
Number 2 is the route my own characters pursue against the similar living reality eating monster in my story ideas.. Partly because they had coincidentally already developed and perfected such a system for other purposes beforehand, and could just reuse that.. But also, the monster proved impossible to study enough to viably do number 1, and number 3 would be a ‘spray with compressed air’ sort of situation.
I’d say your thoughts grow in size. Maybe it is a good thing, but as they grow, they may become more interesting, thus attracting even more interesting thoughts, like they have it’s own gravity.
Also, as they grow, they consume more and more time and take more place and space in the mind. Maybe it is a good thing. It may become a new star, shining the light of knowledge. I’m sure you are aware of star’s evolution theory, because also, a growing mass may collapse into a black hole. And dealing with a black hole inside own mind maybe is not a good thing.
This very topic is something I’ve been pondering, studying, and iteratively refining since gradeschool. And fighting off one interdimensional monster composed of the fabric of reality is small compared to the overall scope of what I’ve imagined.
I’d prefer to have a kitty avatar, but I don’t know how to change it x3
Many many maaannnyyy years ago, I made a 3D TARDIS in Blender. It was back in the days of Blender 2.3x to 2.4x, and was one of the first non-trivial 3D models I ever attempted. I didn’t actually do a terribly good job; for example, the windows are yellow flat planes that are hovering slightly away from the rest of the TARDIS model. I was proud of it at the time though, and made it my avatar on a number of websites. I think some websites had me set it on a third party service, and ever since then it’s been automatically put as my avatar on a bunch of different services I sign up for.
I don’t even know if I have that .blend file anymore, though I know that with how insistent the Blender devs are on backwards compatibility, it might still be openable. Not 100% sure about that, though, and I know for sure it wouldn’t render correctly (since it was rendered with the old ‘Blender Internal’ renderer that was removed recently).
At any rate, uh… Yeah! Now you have an idea of why I’ve been so excited to see the comic go in this direction. I’ve mildly obsessed about this type of thing for a very long time, and have put a lot of thought into what sorts of solutions might be developed to problems like this.
The whole premise of my story ideas is, “For travel between Universes to exist, what sort of technology would need to exist? And furthermore, how else could those prerequisite technologies be used, and what other technologies might they lead to?” And since the basic main prerequisite is ‘bend a given space-time axis in any direction at will’, well… There’s a LOT that can be done with that.
So… erm… are saying that you obsessed about bending a given space-time axis in any direction just because you prefer to have a kitty avatar, but many yeas ago you have made 3D TARDIS in Blender instead? 0.0
Uh, no? I’m saying that I’ve obsessed about bending dimensions in arbitrary directions, and separately from that, I made a very terrible 3D model of a TARDIS in Blender when I was younger, and would these days prefer a kitty avatar.
Not everything about me is related to every other thing about me, except via them all being things about me.
Ok. Must be I’ve got wrong idea of this paragraph: “I’ve mildly obsessed about this type of thing for a very long time, and have put a lot of thought into what sorts of solutions might be developed to problems like this.” Because you wrote it right after describing issues with your avatar, I was confused.
Ah, that was just me referring to the giant wall ‘o text I wrote initially. “Now that you’ve seen my giant wall of text, you know how much of a nerd I am.” That sort of thing.
I kept trying to get Gravatar’s website to let me sign in on it rather than signing in through WordPress. Then I noticed that I can choose a Gravatar avatar… OR upload a custom one right there in the WordPress settings here on this site.
Saw this on a long forgotten chat and figured to share with you and others…
“How can we be sure at all that the world we live… we feel… we breathe every single day of our… “lives”… how can we say for sure is real? What if when someone is about to die that…. “world” gets stopped… we stop imagining that world… and we just go forward to the next… never dying… just an endless dream… a limitless imagination… just that… nor life or death…?
Thank you for sharing. I remember discussing same things decades ago. I must say it feels different now, because, you see, aging begins taking my abilities, and some of my «well known potentials» are already missing. Not too much yet, but noticeable enough to assure me that they have gone for real.
Also, I’d say my own image of the world inside my mind has crash-ended several times already, but it took a lot of effort to save the most precious parts. So if it is kind of a dream anyway, there is no such thing for me like “to stop imagining old world and just go forward to the next”, just because I’m not alone in this world.
Missie seems to have taken a liking to the rabbit girl.
Random thought. What would happen if two cores collide?

It is pointless to resist. XD
:p You’re welcome
Oh bother, this is mildly concerning, we appear to have a bit of a problem here.
wait what did i miss?
oh.
Why the fuck are the comments on this post so damn existential, now I am a wondering if I will mean anything in life and I hate it
Yeeppp. It do be like that.

I dum.
Death is not the end! maybe.
And maybe the end is not death. Which actually scares me even more.

The breath goes hard, no word to say, as stars go out and die away.
Space inherently has lag. It’s called light years for a reason.
Sorry meant to reply to the comic itself, not you. Damn mobile :/
Yeah that doesn’t seem to good
