I’m betting that the “lot of complex chemistry” are all stabilizers. The magic ain’t very potent alone, so she uses her blood to make it stronger. Then we have her scales – silver is known for being the perfect conduit. And finally, we have crystals, to manifest the power, and her own skill to learn, create and use it all together. Normaly, just the part about dragon blood and crystals would be powerfull.
Is Mis the only Drakko that has silver scales or are there others. Also could silver fur work. (Tbh I’m discounting this theory for myself because dragon scales have always had interesting properties to them. But I’m asking just in case. 🙂 )
There are other Draako with silver scales, but for reasons that will become obvious later, she doesn’t want to hand out magical prowess to just other Draako, it’s actually better that no one has it.
Silver fur, like actual metallic silver, isn’t really a thing in current age Farelliar.
Tbh I can understand why she wouldn’t want to, and I was more saying silver colored fur… wait does that mean Mis has metal scales or am I misunderstanding something?
The paint didn’t work for other people.
The paint contains Mis’s blood.
Can it be the reason?
What if the people recreate the paint using their own blood as a base agent?
As a bit of offtopic, once upon a time, when I was less old and more naive, I toyed with an idea for the book.
Long story short, the story was set in the world where magic could only be used by channeling it through your body, with extremities serving as a kind of ablative electrodes – the flow of magic literally dissolved the user starting from the point where the magic was leaving the body.
Such… inconvenience led to manicure being of particular interest to all magic users, with magi carefully growing extremely long nails to use it as emitters to be able to sling spells without losing fingers, and covering said nails in mana-conductive lacquer to improve casting time, focus, and mana usage, with goal to minimize the amount of body parts dissolved.
Consequently, one could guess prowess and specialization of a particular magic-user from the condition and colour of his or her nails respectively.
Also, ‘nine-fingers’, ‘eight-fingers’ et cetera serving as insults for magi – with severity increasing for each finger absent.
The biggest reason it only works for her would have to be her blood if blood is used it acts as a focus thereby tying that specific elixir to her alone that plus her unique scales allow her to use any and all forms
It makes sense, dragons have always been magical. And it make sense as to why only she can use it. This is my theory: since she used her own scales her own body would recognize it but to another person their bodies might reject it and in this case making it unusable to them. and after awhile the residue stayed even if the colors of the paints left. And “basic” spells… I wouldn’t call what she did at the wall basic, but that’s just me.
Honestly… I don’t trust her. Like almost at all.

Usually when someone says “complex chemistry” they mean that if you get it wrong it may go,
BOOM

She has metallic silver scales, yes.
Interesting
Suddenly, a thought *yeah, I know, right?*
The paint didn’t work for other people.
The paint contains Mis’s blood.
Can it be the reason?
What if the people recreate the paint using their own blood as a base agent?
^Question of silver scales notwithstanding, that is…
Blood, time investment, scales, other specific things about Mis.

…Alas, I am rambling now.
Apologies.
Sounds like a fun setting.
Just a curiosity, how tall is Mis? Or most Drakko for that matter? I’m considering writing them as large size race..
Mis is about 8 feet/2.5 meters. Most Draako are around that height when fully grown, males tend to be larger.
now that is an impressive stat.
Trogdor was a man
Or maybe he was a dragon man… Or uh maybe just a dragon
But still he was
TRRRROOOGGGDOOOORRRR!!
Ok, Mis is a Painted Mage in a every sences of the word.
Does she still use the paint on occasion to Enhance her Nanigans?
She does indeed shenance her shenanigans occasionally.
The biggest reason it only works for her would have to be her blood if blood is used it acts as a focus thereby tying that specific elixir to her alone that plus her unique scales allow her to use any and all forms
there is a rule for everything, and an exception to every rule.
even the rule of there being an exception has its exception. this is the paradox rule
Called it!

I must say I am definitely happy with the story so far and the thought put into each reasoning and idea.

Edit* I miss read the last box ignore the last sentence*
Burninating the peasant folk!
Burninating the VILLAGE!
mis created her own magic, where she found a way to get around the rules.
mis à crée sa propre magie, ou elle a trouvé le moyen de contourner les règles.
