As for meeting standard models for magic, it seems kind of similar to tibetian magic, with the added offensive capabilities of course. The internet analogy works pretty well though, honestly if I had to describe tibetian magic I’d probably liken it to basic internet.
Honestly, what I’d be most interested in is how far they’ve gotten in computer technology. Electronics, integrated circuits, etc.
Calculations done via logic gates can be made incredibly power efficient by using something akin to CMOS design, where little to no power is used up by the calculations themselves, only by whatever output is being driven by the result – such as a display or motor. On the other paw, more performant calculations can be performed by utilizing less power-efficient designs. And in the real world, earlier integrated circuits and CPUs were pretty crap at both
They’ve got some pretty good basic electronics going already, but no miniaturized circuits yet. Power cyclers, latches, relays and such, those are all fine. Basic control mechanisms to drive mechanical devices and such. :p
Next question: Would having a focus that’s in between two valid focus colors allow access to either/both? Such as a blue-green color, or a purple.
Also, does splitting your magic between types depend solely on your foci (so if your foci are a red hand and a blue hand you’d be split 50-50 Solarin and Aqanin), what types you actively use (so if you have two valid foci but only use one magic type you get 100% power to that type), or what?
In-betweens will go one way or the other, or neither, never both.
The gateways you open to a realm to pull essence through has a certain size to it to allow enough essence through. If you use two forms at the same time, you have to control the size of either portal, so you can go 50/50, 90/10 or whatever else. You can choose one form to 100% by not using the other.
Can spells be devised that use multiple magic types to accomplish one effect? If so, could the same spell be cast by multiple casters working in concert?
Foci are specified as a separation of color. Does this include a natural separation of color, such as an animal type whose hands are normally a different color than the rest of them, or does it only apply for mutations and the like? Is it possible for people other than Mis to create a focus, say by doing something to permanently change a hand’s color?
Are there chameleon people, and if so, is it possible for them to make a focus? Or is it more that the color change is a side effect of the connection?
Are there any divinations besides Red’s artifact-derived vision? If there are such spells, what category/ies of magic would they fall under?
Do my many questions about magic bother you, or do you like having the opportunity to share about your world?
– Mixed essence spells are possible, yes. Be it from one or multiple people.
– The focus is born from having a connection, it can take a wide variety of forms. It’s always a mutation of sorts. Mis has a connection to all the realms, that’s how she can do that.
– Can’t really make a focus unless you have a connection.
– There are some special things like Red’s eyes, don’t really have a list though.

I mean one of the earliest railguns was used around the turn of the era (0 BC) and went under the name ballistae. Means of propulsion has changed but honestly not much else. Just gotten better at what it does.
Yes it’s obviously very much like a pump or level shottie in looks but knowing it’s electromagnetic (same as the motorcycle I would assume) I’d warrant a guess that the glowing blue bit is the magnet. Only issue with that is you ruin it with those couple of inches at the end.
Ferreta, not trying to nitpick but the weapon you show has to either be pulse or kinetic standard. you’ve got tube at the end that would require a massive amount of track integrity to overcome (enough track integrity to turn whoever was holding the weapon when it fired into a fine red mist). I’d reccommend either extending your powered track to the end of the barrel or reclassifying it as an electromagnetic kinetic (like a regular gun but instead of gunpowder it uses polarity for the initial burst). And tbh any handheld railgun is a ridiculously difficult thing to do so it would def be easier to just reclassify it.
A railgun requires a push/pull capable track for the entire length of the barrel, it doesn’t benefit from a free flow barrel tip. The projectile is going too fast for the barrel to affect trajectory anyways, the friction would melt your barrel after a single shot. Electromagnetic kinetic (which as far as I know is only a prototype propellant irl but i mean we don’t have aqanin magic so it’s a fair stretch) would benefit and allow for a standard free glide barrel.
Think of a railgun as squeezing a slippery object between your fingers until it pops out and electro propelled as putting the same object in a straw and blowing it like a blowpipe. The straw wouldn’t propel the object on it’s own, and trying to put an object in a straw and then squeezing the straw would just add unneeded friction.
Can’t be a railgun Fer, a railgun requires 2 flat rails to conduct electromagnetic energy through in order to accelerate the projectile, it’s more of an electromagnetic coilgun, due to the nature of the round barrel

It has the look of a pump model shotgun. My guess is it’s used with slugs and a rifled barrel for maximum mid-long range effectiveness
